Viduthalai known onscreen as Viduthalai Part 1 is an Indian Tamil-language period crime thriller movie released in 2023 directed and co-produced by Vetrimaaran, who co-wrote the screenplay with B. Jeyamohan, under Grass Root Film Company and RS Infotainment.
It is the first two-part adaptation of the quick story Thunaivan by Jeyamohan. The movie is set in 1987, the movie follows a constable, who is conscripted to capture the leader of a separatist group. This movie includes cast like Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Balaji Sakthivel, Saravana Subbiah, Chetan, Munnar Ramesh, and Pavel Navageethan.
Viduthalai was originally declared as a single movie in April 2021, with principal photography starting in December 2020. However, it was subsequently revealed to be released in two parts. It was mostly shot in Chengalpattu, with the first part’s portions surrounding by late December 2022. The movie has music written by Ilaiyaraaja, cinematography managed by R. Velraj, and editing by R. Ramar.
Viduthalai was released on the date of 31 March 2023 in theaters to positive reviews from critics and evolved as a commercial hit at the box office. A direct sequel titled Viduthalai Part 2 is scheduled for release in the year 2024. The part Viduthalai Part 2 is scheduled for release in the year 2024.

Kumaresan, a police constable, gets conscripted for an operation planted to catch Perumal Vaathiyar, who guides a separatist group committed to fighting against the authorities for executing atrocities against blameless village women in the name of police interrogations.

Viduthalai Part 1 Tamil Movie 2023 Songs Collection
The film’s soundtrack is penned by Ilaiyaraaja in his maiden partnership with Vetrimaaran. Ilaiyaraaja penned the film’s song in his recently launched music studio in Kodambakkam, after his falling out with Prasad Studios, where he recorded songs for almost four decades. The song composition of the movie started in the year February 2021.
Sony Music India bought the music ownership. The first single, “Onnoda Nadandhaa” was published on the date of 8 February 2023.
