Ruler is an Indian Telugu-language action drama film released in 2020, made by C. Kalyan under CK Entertainments & Happy Movies banners and directed by K. S. Ravikumar and actors like Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vedhika, Sonal Chauhan, Bhumika Chawla, and music written by Chirantan Bhatt. The movie acquired negative reviews from critics and was a commercial disappointment.

Ruler Indian Telugu Movie Plot
The movie starts in 1987 when the crime speed in Uttar Pradesh rises. The Agricultural Minister, Veerandranath Tagore, brought out a resolution to grow farming, as crime can be decreased by eliminating hunger. He offers a call for 500 farmers from Combined Andhra Pradesh guided by the wise Seetaramaiah. The Government gives them 5000 acres of land on lease for 30 years, after that, it will be their own.
Years moved by, and Sarojini Naidu, a business tycoon moved toward Uttar Pradesh to begin her new industrial plant. On the way, she sees a stranger with numerous stab wounds. Sarojini Naidu took him to the hospital, and within a few minutes, she took him to the ICU due to a heart attack. Here, Sarojini Naidu is encountering a severe threat from her brother-in-law, Durga Prasad, when the stranger miraculously awakens from the coma and saves her.
Understanding that the person has fully lost his memory, Sarojini Naidu adopts him by conveying the identity of her dead son Arjun Prasad. After 2 years, Arjun Prasad evolved into a famous IT magnate. Harika, the chairman of a rival group, attempts to defeat Arjun Prasad when she falls for him. Meanwhile, the Telugu agriculturalists in Uttar Pradesh are under extreme hardship from local politician Bhavaninath Tagore.
Sandhya, who is shown as the love welfare of Arjun Prasad in history, makes a complaint when the Govt sets a special judiciary committee. Unfortunately, when they step in, Bhavaninath Tagore misrepresents the report by threatening the villagers and even claims Sandhya is insane.
At the exact time, Arjun Prasad shows that the Uttar Pradesh project had been threatened by Bhavaninath Tagore, who even humiliated Sarojini Naidu. Now, outraged Arjun Prasad voices against Bhavaninath Tagore and continues his plant.
At that point, the henchmen of Bhavaninath Tagore hit Arjun Prasad, whose blood ran cold after noticing him. Simultaneously, all the Telugu villagers eagerly come and declare him as Dharma.
Thereupon the locals begin describing the past, and Dharma is a strong police officer, the son of Seetaramaiah, who takes a stand for justice. Niranjana Prasad, daughter of Veerandranath Tagore, loves and weds a lower caste man, which her father happily welcomes.
During their marriage reception, Bhavaninath Tagore, the younger brother of Veerandranath Tagore, kills the bridegroom and even tries to destroy pregnant Niranjana Prasad utilizing his racism and vote bank.
All at once, Dharma reaches, saves, and protects them in the village through Telugu farmers as gratitude. Meanwhile, avenged Bhavaninath Tagore’s forces and gave a G.O. to repeal the lease agreement. Veerandranath Tagore takes in the farmers’ suffering, so, they exit the village. First, he requests Niranjana Prasad to stand by at the railway station and approach Bhavaninath Tagore with a request for the revocation of the G.O.
However, a bloodthirsty Bhavaninath Tagore destroys him and calls his henchmen to destroy Niranjana Prasad. Tracing her whereabouts, Dharma comes on a train on time. In the fight, he is hardly damaged and wiped out, and at this point, he is caught by Sarojini Naidu.
In a moment, the story shifts to the present when Sarojini Naidu even announces him as Dharma, but he cannot remember his memory. However, he chooses to face Bhavaninath Tagore when his heart is touched with joy, understanding that the villagers protect Niranjana Prasad and she has given delivery to a baby boy called Dharma.
Finally, Dharma / Arjun Prasad hits out to Bhavaninath Tagore, always permits the lands to the farmers, and claims Niranjana Prasad as the actual heir of the Tagore dynasty. Ultimately, Sarojini Naidu leaves with Harika bequeathing Dharma / Arjun Prasad as his need is more to the public than her company empire.

Critical Reception
Ruler received negative reviews from critics. Y. Sunita Chowdary of The Hindu stated that the film was purely for the fans. “Balakrishna fans will like him in any form and indeed made some effort to look different, gives Vedhika returns after a long time to perform in a better role.
The hero gets elevated at each level and it becomes a tale of heroic exploits and nothing else,” she added. The Times of India critic Suhas Yellapantula gave 1.5/5 stars, and called it a “disappointing fare.” He wrote: ” A non-existent plot, poor characterization, and amateurish filmmaking ensure this film is a big miss.
Critics also gave the same rating and wrote: “The concept is old school and unnecessary scenes, the second half could be avoided totally. The director KS Ravikumar has been stuck in a time warp being unable to move on from his outdated concepts. Although Balayya impresses with his posh look, the angry cop look is very underwhelming with the horrible wig, which disappoints the general audience.
A reviewer from The Hans India affirmed that the film doesn’t have a proper storyline, “Director KS Ravikumar used the same commercial formula for this movie and even the story and screenplay are also not that gripping,” they wrote.
