A young man desperately attempts to create it big with some improbable allies and a cruel diabolical plan to pull off the flawless murder.
Critical Reception
On the review aggregator blog Rotten Tomatoes, 81% of 16 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average ranking of 6.3 stars out of 10 stars.
Zinia Bandyopadhyay of India Today gave the movie 4 stars out of 5 stars and noted “The frames of the movie are stunning. It will push you to pause and see them again and again. The background music promotes the impact of the narrative. So long after the movie has finished, it will stay in your hearts”.
Anna M. M. Vetticad of Firstpost commended the acting and songs of the movie but was critical of the community indication, saying “It is disturbing though that thinking folk casually reported a Monica Machado into this script as an office staffer folding up as a cabaret dancer and even sleeping with everyone in sight, a resurrection of the pre-1990s Hindi movie portrayal of Christian women, without identifying the penalty that has been done to India’s Christian minority by this old stereotype.”
The Indian Express rated the movie a positive response and expressed “Relax, Bollywood is doing just fine; you’re not peeking in the suitable places”.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave the movie 4 stars out of 5 stars and named it “An intriguing, enthralling work that deftly turns pulp into a special cinematic pearl. In brief, it is a not-to-be-missed marvel”.
Pratikshya Mishra of The Quint gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars and wrote “In overview, Monica O My Darling is a fascinating story set in a tasty pulpy universe with a wonderful cast. With a closer edit and a more straightforward story, the movie would’ve been inconceivable to put down (but even as it stands, it’s fun to see)”.
