Merry Christmas is an Indian Hindi-Tamil bilingual mystery thriller movie made by Sriram Raghavan including Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. The movie is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Jaya Taurani, Sanjay Routray, and Kewal Garg under Tips Movies and Matchbox Pictures. It is founded on Frédéric Dard’s French novel Le Monte-charge (Bird in a Cage).
The movie was officially declared in the date of December 2021. Principal photography started the same month in Mumbai along with a periodic schedule in Uttar Pradesh, which was also followed with a schedule in the former place, and surrounded by mid-January 2023. The movie has music written by Pritam, cinematography managed by Madhu Neelakandan, and editing by Pooja Ladha Surti.
After many postponements, Merry Christmas was published in theatres on the date of 12 January 2024 to positive reviews, with the acting of Kaif and Sethupathi obtaining praise.

Merry Christmas Movie 2024 Plot
Two strangers encounter on a fateful Christmas Eve. A night of delighted romance twists into a nightmare. Displaying anything more would be an offense.
On Christmas Eve, Albert returns house after many years of being away. Suffering from and adjusting to the loss of his mother, he steps out pursuing joy in the city’s Christmas Eve celebrations. He encounters the beautiful and mystifying Maria, and her little daughter who is silent.
The night fans into long walks and discussions, sparking incredible, but unequivocal, magnetism between Albert and Maria. For Maria, Albert is all she could have requested for… And for Albert, Maria is nothing quick of a Christmas gift. But something soon carry a dark turn and an evening of romance twists into a nightmare.
Albert comes back to Mumbai after 7 years on Christmas Eve where he discovers from his neighboring uncle that his mother has died away sometime back. Albert exits to enjoy the eve and meets Maria and her daughter Annie who was ditched for a blind date.
They meet again for a film at Regal Theater and exit the movie mid-way where Albert chooses to drop Maria home and both share their side of the tale. Maria is proceeding to a bad marriage with their husband Jerome who manipulates her and Annie, Albert had a break up 7 years back with Rosie and still can’t overpower it.
They choose to spend Christmas Eve together and enjoy on the streets of Mumbai exiting Annie’s home. But upon their return, Maria discovers Jerome is back home and to her shock, he is lying deceased on the sofa with a gun in his hand. Albert is weak as he can’t help Maria for a reason which escapes her on the sofa. But to his shock sometime later he witnesses Maria and Annie very usually on the street going to celebrate Christmas mass.
Merry Christmas Movie 2024 Release
Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Merry Christmas’ was published on Netflix on the date of March 8. The movie was published in theatres on the date of January 12.

Critical Reception
On the review aggregator blog Rotten Tomatoes, 89% of 18 critics’ reviews are positive, with a middle rating of 6.5 out of 10.
In the movie Companion, Rahul Desai describes the film as “exceptional and extremely moving… a sublime deconstruction of the romantic thriller” and highlights the “self-contained” chemistry between Kaif and Sethupathi. He lauded the duo’s performances and particularly singled out Kaif for providing”a performance within a performance”, in which she “nails the opacity of a mother hidden as a woman”.
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV rated the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 and praised the movie as “a delightfully inventive cinematic ride that utilizes a very 1980s Hindi cinema soundscape and an evocative and transportive color palette”. He enjoyed the contrast between Kaif and Sethupathi and opined that the former rated “one of the most effective screen performances of her career, displaying the chaos and exposure cloaked in occasional flashes of steely determination”.
Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express rated the movie 3 stars out of 5 and judged that “Despite their unique pairing, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi tend to work together, as she once more displays her acting prowess behind all the pancake and bump-and-grind.
Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times declared”You won’t bounce out of this Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif film when it arrives to any significant surprise or the conclusion, but you will appreciate perfect cinematography clever writing, and an enjoyable film that holds you on the edge of your seat. Even if you only visit it once, Sriram Raghavan’s cinematic universe is worth observing.
