Maharaja is an Indian Tamil-language action thriller movie released in 2024 that was directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Raam Murali.
It is together produced by The Route, Think Studios, and Passion Studios. This movie includes stars like Vijay Sethupathi, alongside Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami Gopikumar, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Sachana Namidass, Manikandan and Bharathiraja.
The movie m was officially declared in February 2023 under the tentative title VJS50, as it is Sethupathi’s 50th film as the lead actor. The principal photography began the same month, mostly taking place in Chennai throughout a single schedule.
The official title was revealed in July, coinciding with the filming being wrapped and Think Studios entering as co-producers. The songs was written by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, while cinematography and editing were managed by Dinesh Purushothaman and Philomin Raj respectively.
Maharaja was published worldwide on the date of 14 June 2024 to universal praise from critics with praise for cast performances (especially Sethupathi and Kashyap), editing, writing, and direction. The movie appeared as the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 as of now.

Maharaja Movie 2024 Plot
Maharaja is a peaceful man, working as a barber in Ramki Saloon in Chennai. One day, a truck collides with his house, leading to his wife’s demise. His daughter, Jothi, survives when a dustbin accidentally drops and covers her. Maharaja and Jothi call the dustbin “Lakshmi” out of affection.
Critical Reception
Maharaja obtained positive reviews from critics, who applauded Sethupathi’s performance, Philomin’s editing, and Swaminathan’s screenplay and direction.

Maharaja Movie 2024 Songs Collection
The songs and background score are written by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, in his first collaboration with Sethupathi; second with Saminathan after Kurangu Bommai; and his fourth Tamil movie after Kurangu Bommai, Richie (2017), and Nimir (2018).
The first single “Thayee Thayee”, sung by Sid Sriram and composed by Vairamuthu, was published on the date of 7 June 2024. The second single “Raja Paya Onnu” was published on the date of 15 June 2024, after the film’s release.
