KGF: Chapter 2 is an Indian Kannada-language period action film that was released in 2022 and was written and directed by Prashanth Neel, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner Hombale Movies.
The second installment in a three-part series, it acts as a sequel to the 2018 movie KGF: Chapter 1. The film includes actors an ensemble cast of Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Srinidhi Shetty, Prakash Raj, Achyuth Kumar, Rao Ramesh, Vasishta N. Simha, Ayyappa P. Sharma, Archana Jois, Saran Shakti, Easwari Rao, John Kokken, T.S Nagabharana, and Malavika Avinash.
This movie was completed on a budget of ₹100 crores, K.G.F: Chapter 2 is the most costly Kannada movie ever made. Neel retained the technicians from its predecessor with Bhuvan Gowda managing the cinematography and Ravi Basrur composing the movie score and songs. Dutt and Tandon entered the cast in earlier 2019, keeping the former’s Kannada film debut.
Portions of the movie were recorded back-to-back with Chapter 1. Principal photography for the rest of the sequences began in the date of March 2019 but was halted in February 2020 owing to the COVID-19 lockdown in India. Filming continued five months later and was finished in the date of December 2020. The movie was shoted on Locations included Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, and Kolar.

The blood-soaked land of Kolar Gold Fields has a new overlord now, Rocky, whose name strikes fear in the heart of his foes. His supporters look up to him as their Savior, the government notices him as a threat, and his opponents are clamoring for revenge.

Critical Reception
On the review aggregator blog Rotten Tomatoes, 42% of 12 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5 out of 10 stars.
Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama rated the movie 4.5 out of 5 stars. He enjoyed all major elements of production, opining that it “has a new, international look and doesn’t look like a regional film at all.” Subha J. Rao of Firstpost gave the film 4 stars out of 5 and discovered the writing and conception to be “far better” than Chapter 1.
Sunayana Suresh of The Times of India even rated it 4 stars out of 5 and discovered that “Neel and Yash have worked to deliver a sequel that appears more immersive than the first part.” Vivek MV of Deccan Herald gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5, as did Janani K of India Today, who told the climax as “cathartic and brilliantly shot” but was necessary of the variable pacing throughout.
With 3 stars out of 5, Shuklaji of The News Minute reported, “Despite the few shortcomings, spectators are bound to recall the movie forever for its outrageous imagination and excellent technical finesse.”
Bharathi Pradhan of Lehren rated the movie 2 stars out of 5 stars and noted that Rocky was “Don Of Indian Dystopia”. Rohit Bhatnagar of The Free Press Journal gave the movie 2.5 stars out of 5 and reported “KGF: Chapter 2 has every potential ingredient to impress the Janta, but encountering realism is a big no-no”.
Sukanya Verma of Rediff.com gave the film 2.5 stars out of 5 stars and noted, “Testosterone, not rationale, is the driving force behind the K.G.F franchise,” but applauded the work for placing “some muscle on a thin belief,” and the production design.
Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express rated 1.5 stars out of 5 stars and was not impressed with the screenplay or momentum, noting that the movie “swings haphazardly between the past and the present.”
With 2.5 stars out of 5 stars, Nandini Ramnath of Scroll.in rated the movie and discovered the movie to be “less chaotic” than Chapter 1, but felt it “continues to mourn from leaps in the time-space continuum.”
Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV gave it 2 stars out of 5 and noted, “The movie is the handiwork of people who do not appear to have the foggiest sense of modulation, or moderation, in the subject of pitching and sound design,” but was grateful of Yash’s performance.
Reporting for News18, Sonil Dedhia called K.G.F: Chapter 2 an “all-stops pulled out entertainment” movie and opined that it “delivers the goods when it arrives to non-stop thrills, mood, and style.”
Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times judged the movie was “worth the hype and one of the finest sequels to have reached out in a long time,” and conveyed Yash as “just unmissable.”
Srivatsan S. of The Hindu marked the movie a “festival of male toxicity” but supposed Neel had corrected “some of the iniquities of the first part,” writing, “There is only one mode to look at K.G.F: Chapter 2 for it to work for you and that is to participate in the madness it proposes.”
KGF Chapter 2 Kannada Movie 2022 Songs Collection
The film’s music is written by Ravi Basrur. The music rights are held by Lahari Music and T-Series for southern languages. The music ownership of the Hindi version was purchased by MRT Music. Music sessions of the movie started in the date of April 2019, at Basrur’s recently renovated recording studio in Bangalore.
However, music production was stopped in mid-March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was continued during that May. After work on the film’s music and score was ended, Basrur subsequently edited the score and songs, during mid-2021. The Naik Brothers (Laxman and Sandesh Datta), recorded two songs “Toofan” and “Sultan”, employed in the Hindi-dubbed version of the movie.
They commented”We moved there and he dubbed four songs in Telugu and Kannada in our voice. Later, COVID-19 lockdown happened. After a long delay of two years, they recorded two songs for the Hindi dubbed version titled Toofan and Sultan and completed for the film”. The audio rights for K.G.F: Chapter 2 were purchased by Lahari Music and T-Series for ₹7.2 crore (US$900,000).
On the date of 21 March 2022, the first single titled “Toofan” was published from the album. The song describes the rise of Rocky (Yash) as a savior of enslaved people in the gold mines of Kolar, as defined in the predecessor’s plot.
It got over 26 million views within 24 hours of its publish. On the date of 6 April 2022, the second single titled “Gagana Nee” was published, On the date of 13 April 2022, the third single titled “Sulthana” was published. On the date of 14 April 2022, the fourth single titled “Mehabooba” was published. On the date of 16 April 2022, the makers published the soundtrack album, including four songs. On the date of 24 April 2022, the fifth single titled “The Monster Song” was even published.
