Critical Reception
Archika Khurana of The Times of India gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars and reported, “Right from Vicky and Kiara bouncing a leg to the track Pappi Jhappi to donning fitting outfits, everything reminds you of the madness and quirks of the 90s comedies. Govinda Naam Mera is a solid crowd-pleaser that engages with much laughter, chaos and comedy”.
Sonil Dedhia of News 18 gave the movie 3.5 out of 5 stars and noted “Govinda Naam Mera is the sort of low-brow comedy you want without pretensions. Kaushal robbed the show with his energy levels coupled with his self-assured action. Advani pairs off very pleasingly with Kaushal. She is not only a glamour quotient here but is in awesome form. Pedenkar has limited screen time but is just exceptional”.
Bollywood Hungama gave the movie 3 stars out of 5 stars and noted, “Govinda Naam Mera lies on a far-fetched and incredible second half. But with appreciation to the performances, fast-paced narrative, and some unexpected exciting and thrilling moments, it turns out to be a watchable movie”.
Taru B Masand of Times Now rated 3 stars out of 5 stars and reported, “It is a family performer and a choice pick for a movie night. Despite the slow build-up, the movie appears as a winner with its comic timings, a cameo by Ranbir Kapoor, sharp climax, and simply an excellent cast”.

Rohit Bhatnagar of The Free Press Journal gave the movie 3 stars out of 5 stars and reported “Govinda Naam Mera is a trippy laughter riot with a dramatic event, but still a one-time watch. Vicky advances but somewhere he loses too.
His ‘taporigiri’ act examines pushy in a some scenes. Kiara is watchable and reminds one of Karisma Kapoor from David Dhawan’s movies in the 1990s. Bhumi has more smallish screen time, does her job nicely, and makes brownie points just because she is a Maharashtrian originally. Shahane is a pleasure to see, Wagh and Khamkar play their roles with sincerity. Ranbir Kapoor’s cameo just lights up the entire canvas”.
Himesh Mankad of Pinkvilla gave the movie 2 stars out of 5 stars and noted “Govinda Naam Mera rides on a rather dull narrative where nothing actually arrives together apart from the final 20 minutes, Kaushal’s does nicely to work his part of Govinda, Advani offers in a big way and definitely stands out from the rest with her act in the movie. Pednekar does nicely as a dominating wife, but the character doesn’t have sufficiently shades”.
Tushar Joshi of India Today gave the movie 2 stars out of 5 stars and reported “Govinda Naam Mera is a letdown. The experience in the first half, is nonetheless however second half, particularly the climax and the last hour, are the most valuable parts of the movie.
Kaushal aces in every role, offering it his all. Be it the comic or the romantic moments, he offers this movie his all as Govinda Waghmare, Bhumi’s scenes with Vicky in the first half are a significant highlight, Advani has some scenes where she shines, but altogether she’s eased to playing the pretty girl in distress. Kapoor’s cameo that shortly lifts the vibe of the movie”.
