Furiosa A Mad Max Saga Movie 2024
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is a post-apocalyptic action movie released in 2023 directed and produced by George Miller, who penned the screenplay with Nico Lathouris.
This movie is the fifth installment in Miller’s Mad Max franchise, and the first not concentrated on series protagonist Max Rockatansky, rather acting as both a spin-off prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) and a source story for the Fury Road character Furiosa, performed by Anya Taylor-Joy and Alyla Browne in the prequel.
This movie is set 15 to 20 years before the events of Fury Road, the movie follows the title character’s life for over a decade, from her kidnapping by the powers of warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) to her ascension to the rank of Imperator.
Tom Burke even stars as Praetorian Jack, a military captain who befriends Furiosa. Many Fury Road cast members return in helping roles, like John Howard, Nathan Jones, and Angus Sampson repeating their characters.
Miller originally planned to record Furiosa back-to-back with Fury Road, but the former took a few years in development hell amidst salary disputes with Warner Bros.
Pictures, Fury Road’s distributor. Many crew members from Fury Road came back for Furiosa, like Lathouris, producer Doug Mitchell, composer Tom Holkenborg, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and editor Margaret Sixel (Miller’s wife). The shooting of this movie took place in Australia from June to October 2022.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on the date of 15 May 2024. It was released theatrically in Australia on the date of 23 May 2024 and in the United States the following day. The movie acquired positive reviews from critics, but evolved as a box-office bomb, making only $172.8 million against its budget of around $168–$233 million.

Furiosa A Mad Max Saga Movie 2024 Plot
Seized from the Green Place of Many Mothers, young Furiosa drops into the hands of a superb biker horde led by the warlord Dementus.
Mopping through the Wasteland, they arrive across the Citadel, headed over by the Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa shortly discovers herself in a nonstop fight to drive her way home.
Critical Reception
As of now, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has made more than $67.5 million in the United States and Canada, and $105.3 million in other areas, for a worldwide sum of more than $172.8 million.
The film’s box-office performance has been considered a failure. Critics and movie pundits reported that the franchise’s limited request in general and prequels, in particular, contributed to poor box-office performance.
Variety wrote that industry insiders calculated that Furiosa required to gross more than $350–375 million to turn a profit and that it would end up failing around $75–95 million for the studio and its co-founders.
However, a Warner Bros. spokesperson asserted that the movie had a lower break-even point. As much as half of the film’s budget was protected by the NSW and Australian federal governments.

Furiosa A Mad Max Saga Movie 2024 Songs Collection
Fury Road composer Tom Holkenborg (even famous as Junkie XL) came back to score Furiosa; this is his third partnership with Miller after Fury Road and Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Holkenborg shifted to Sydney to write the score and even helped design the final mix. He clarified that because Furiosa was a character-driven movie, the film’s score had to be character-driven as well: “Musically, everything was being described from a first-person view, which is being her [Furiosa], how she, observes the world around her, The Wasteland, its cruelties.”
Holkenborg added that Miller liked a “way, way more modest score” for Furiosa than Fury Road, the latter of which was “just huge action more than 48 hours” and an “over-the-top rock opera”.
Individual, Miller rejected reusing the music”Brothers in Arms” from Fury Road (which plays when Max and Furiosa assist each other escape the Rock Rider canyon) during the Bullet Farm action sequence because he likes to aim the audience’s attention on the fact that Furiosa was ready to offer her most promising chance at discovering the Green Place to save Jack’s life, and directed Holkenborg to utilize Fury Road’s musical motifs for the Green Place instead.
Miller clarified that the Bullet Farm sequence must be “a love story in the middle of an action set”. He likes to display that “through their actions, [Furiosa and Jack] are organized to give of themselves fully to the other”.
Furthermore, Holkenborg “utilized AI to do deep fake voices from another voice”, describing: “What if the source sound was a drum rhythm, and what if the destination sound was an electric guitar? But the software doesn’t understand what to create of it. So it offered us a happy misfortune that we utilized throughout the score”. Warner Bros. in-house record label WaterTower Music published the official soundtrack album on the date of 17 May 2024.
On the date of 29 November 2023, the Warner Bros. booth at CCXP featured a first-look image of Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa. The following day, the teaser trailer of the movie was published. On the date of 19 March 2024, the official trailer debuted.
At CinemaCon, Warner Bros. screened additional footage of the movie on the date of 9 April; Miller, Taylor-Joy, and Hemsworth seemed together for the first time in public to advertise the film.
Playing about five minutes, the extended preview displayed at CinemaCon announced that the movie would be separated into three distinct chapters (“Her Odyssey Begins”, “A Warrior Awakens”, and “A Ride Into Vengeance”).
The final movie features a sum of five chapters: “The Pole of Inaccessibility”, “Lessons from the Wasteland”, “The Stowaway”, “Homeward”, and “Beyond Vengeance”.
A trio of first-look images from the movie were published exclusively by Total Film on the date of 19 April. On the date of 16 May, an extended sneak peek was published by Odeon Cinemas and was published on YouTube the following day.
