A critic from The Times of India gave the movie three out of five stars and mentioned, “Despite decent performances and atmosphere, Dange’s plot meanders, usually losing aims on the point of it all, which makes the direction appear overindulgent”.
A critic from Filmfare.com rated the movie the same rating and noted that ” There’s a raw energy to Dange. It’s another movie celebrating hyper-masculinity, which looks to be the flavor of the season. See it for a glimpse of what occurs beneath the facade of respectability linked with institutes catering to higher education”.
An analyst from Film Companion mentioned that “The craft is so proudly visible in director Bejoy Nambiar’s film that it overcomes everything else”.
An analyst from Times Now mentions that “Although unresolved problems form the basic crux of Bejoy Namiar’s Dange, the story, at heart, underneath that massive stockpile of hash and hugs, is about passion and longing”.
A critic from News18 says “Much like Bejoy Nambiar’s previous works, Dange is labeled with a distinct style, voice, color, and texture. Its most significant strength lies in its fresh appeal and treatment”.
An analyst from The Free Press Journal reported that “Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar carries back the campus-drama genre that was overlooked for a while now. Mani Ratnam’s Yuva is the best instance of the genre and Bejoy, being his assistant to the maverick Mani, holds the flavor intact”.
