Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is an Indian Hindi-language horror comedy movie released in 2022 directed by Anees Bazmee, composed by Aakash Kaushik and Farhad Samji, and produced by T-Series Films and Cine1 Studios. It is a standalone part of the 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).
The movie includes actors like Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani, and Tabu and follows Ruhaan Randhawa, who has to pose as a fake psychic to negotiate with the return of Manjulika, a malevolent spirit hell-bent on revenge against the Thakur family.
The principal photography of this movie started in October 2019. The production encountered prolonged holds due to the COVID-19 pandemic, before continuing in 2021 and finishing in February 2022. It was shooted in Lucknow, Jaipur, Mumbai, and Manali.
The film’s score was written by Sandeep Shirodkar, while the songs were written by Pritam with lyrics composed by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Mandy Gill, and Saaveri Verma, while two songs initially penned by lyricist Sameer for the 2007 original were credited to him, like a remix of the title track, recreated by Tanishk Bagchi, who is credited as co-composer.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was released theatrically worldwide on the date of 20 May 2022 and got generally positive reviews from critics, with special praise for Tabu and Aaryan’s works, humor, musical score, soundtrack, cinematography, and direction, but acquired criticism for the script and editing. The movie made ₹266.88 crore (US$32 million) worldwide to evolve as the fourth highest-grossing Hindi movie of 2022.
The movie got 10 nominations at the 68th Filmfare Awards, like Best Film, Best Director (Bazmee), Best Actress (Tabu), and Best Actor (Aaryan), and won Best Actress (Critics) (Tabu).
A part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, was declared in March 2023 and is set to release theatrically on the date of Diwali 2024. Kartik Aaryan will act his role alongside Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, and Triptii Dimri.

Critical Reception
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 obtained positive reviews from analysts.
A critic for Bollywood Hungama rated the movie 4.5 stars out of 5 and noted, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a full entertainer and works due to the superb mix of horror and comedy.”
Pallabi Dey Purkayastha of The Times of India gave the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 and mentioned, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is an accumulation of grief and the grieving.” Rohit Vats of Daily News and Analysis rated it 3.5 stars out of 5 and noted, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is an out-and-out entertainer and next in the line of standard Bollywood ‘masala’ movie.”
Avinash Lohana of Pinkvilla gave the movie 3 stars out of 5 and noted, “Kartik, Kiara, and Tabu live up to their parts. The movie has a mass request and the potential to convey the audience back into the Film hall.”
Tushar Joshi of India Today also rated the movie 3 stars out of 5 and mentioned, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 contains all the masala and makings to fill the taste buds. It’s humorous in places, attempts to be scary most of the time, but like its title, its efforts get somewhere failed.”
Bharathi Pradhan of Lehren even rated the movie with the same rating and noted, “Tabu proves once again that she’s a rare mix of versatility in performance with an arresting face. It’s not the sort of movie where you control to look for logic.”
Rohit Bhatnagar of The Free Press Journal gave the movie 3 stars out of 5 and noted, “Horror-comedy is a tough genre, but Anees Bazmee dabbles with funny one-liners and jump shocks together fairly well.”
Devesh Sharma of Filmfare, even gave the movie 3 stars out of 5, and wrote, “Watch the movie for Tabu’s and Kartik’s performances and its comic aspects.”
Nandini Ramnath of Scroll.in even rated the movie 3 stars out of 5 and mentioned, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 shifts along on its hero’s insouciance, Tabu’s screen presence, and patches of delightful comedy.”
In a mixed review, Sukanya Verna of Rediff.com gave the movie 2.5 stars out of 5 stars and discovered that the movie did not take itself especially to its strength, composing, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a ridiculous scary movie that understands it is a silly scary film.”
Shalini Langer of The Indian Express gave the movie 2 stars out of 5 and handled the humor could have been more diplomatic: “There are repeated jokes at the cost of an overweight child and a hard-of-hearing pandit.”
With 1.5 stars out of 5 stars, Tatsam Mukherjee of Firstpost regretted the sequel having no narrative relation with the previous movie, writing, “While the 2007 actual used the vessel of a horror comedy to tell a rather significant story about mental illness, the sequel regresses into actual bhoot-pret (ghost-spirits).”

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Hindi Movie 2022 Songs Collection
The songs of the movie was prepared by Pritam, while Tanishk Bagchi emerged as the guest composer, recreating the title track along with Pritam. The songs were penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Sameer, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Mandy Gill, and Saaveri Verma.
The song “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 Title Track” was played from the title track for the 2007 movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which was sung by Neeraj Shridhar and penned by Sameer. This is the second time the song is being recreated after the 2017 movie Commando 2, which was titled “Hare Krishna Hare Ram”, sung by Armaan Malik, Raftaar, and Ritika, and composed by Gourov-Roshin.
The song “Ami Je Tomar/Mere Dholna Sun” from the prequel was even retained in the movie. Shreya Ghoshal, who sang “Mere Dholna” in the 2007 prequel, repeated her vocals and is featured in three various versions of the song in the movie.
The lovers of the song “Ami Je Tomar” liked the voices of Shreya and Arijit for a duet on the song. The song was even published with the title “Ami Je Tomar Kartik X Vidya” on the date of June 28, 2022, taking from each video clip of the music.
