Balagam is an Indian Telugu-language family drama movie released in 2023 written and directed by actor Venu Yeldandi, in his directorial debut. It was produced by Hanshitha Reddy and Harshith Reddy, respectively, under Dil Raju Productions.
The movie includes actors like Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram, Sudhakar Reddy, Kota Jayaram, Mime Madhu, and Muralidhar Goud in primary roles. Balagam Telugu Movie 2023 Plot
In a village in Telangana, a family head Komarayya (Sudhakar Reddy), full of life and vigour, dies away suddenly. Sailu (Priyadarshi), his grandson (the son of his eldest son), is in debt and thinks that getting married and obtaining dowry money will allow him to pay it off. Sailu’s engagement has been put on hold due to the death of Komarayya.
Critical Reception
123Telugu rated the movie 3 out of 5 stars and wrote “Balagam is a real try to explore human values and emotions that is empty of any commercial ingredients. The film’s trump cards are the natural village environment, heartwarming work, and satisfying emotional sequences”.
Raghu Bandi of The Indian Express even rated the same rating and commented: “Balagam is a genuine slice of life tale from rural Telangana”.
A critic writing for The Times of India, said that the films’s creative and technical team requires a particular mention, while honoring the screenplay and acting work of Priyadarshi and Kavya Kalyanram.

The soundtrack album is written by Bheems Ceciroleo, with lyrics penned by Kasarla Shyam. Background score Written by Suresh Bobbili, Bobbilis BGM and Climax song played a big role in the successes of Balagam, Aditya Music released the full soundtrack album featuring three tracks.

Balagam Telugu Movie 2023 Awards
Priyadarshi and Kethiri Sudhakar Reddy, got Best Actor and Best Supporting Actors respectively at the Swedish International Film Festival, 2023. At the Los Angeles Cinematography Awards 2023, Balagam got Best Feature Film, and Best Feature Film – Cinematography honors.
At the Golden Bridge İstanbul Short Film Festival 2023 it succeeded accolades for Best Feature Film, Best Director, and Best Lead Actor. At the Denver Monthly Film Critics Awards, it succeeded March Award for Best Feature and was Nominated for Best Actor.
