83 Hindi Movie 2021 | Movie Review, Box Office Collection & Plot of 83 Hindi Movie

In this article, we will discuss 83 Hindi Movie 2021.

83 is an Indian Hindi-language biographical sports drama movie released in 2021 composed and directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, and Sajid Nadiadwala.

Depending on the India national cricket team captain Kapil Dev, succeeded in the 1983 Cricket World Cup, and together reported by Khan, along with Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, Vasan Bala, and Sumit Arora.

This movie includes actors like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R. Badree.

Vishnu Vardhan Induri who first possessed the rights for the movie and Madhu Mantena, the co-producer in Phantom Films, formally encountered the Indian squad of 1983 in mid-July 2016, and its frontman Kapil Dev, which they marked as a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) to create the official biopic.

In September 2017, Reliance Entertainment co-financed the project and officially revealed the biopic with members of the winning team, with Singh and Khan conveyed on board.

Following an ample casting and pre-production process, the movie started principal photography on the date of 5 June 2019, where it was majorly recorded in and around England for three months and a brief schedule took place in India, before filming bound up on the date of 7 October.

Initially scheduled for cinema release in April 2020, the movie was made from its release date many times due to the casting and pre-production work that slowed filming and even due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India, resulting in the move being postponed until December 2021.

It premiered at the Red Sea International Film Festival on the date of 15 December and was released worldwide on the date of 24 December 2021 (Christmas Eve) in conventional 2D and 3D formats, circulated by PVR Pictures in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, apart from the earliest version.

The movie obtained widespread praise from critics and audiences alike, honoring the work of the cast, screenplay, direction, and technical factors. However, the movie was unsuccessful at the Indian box office, although it evolved as the highest-grossing Hindi ,movie of 2021 overseas.

At the 67th Filmfare Awards, 83 obtained 14 nominations, like Best Director (Khan), Best Supporting Actor (Tripathi), and Best Male Playback Singer (Arijit Singh for “Lehra Do”), and won 2 awards – Best Actor (Ranveer Singh) and Best Lyricist (Munir for “Lehra Do”).

Captained by an enterprising captain, India went into the 1983 Cricket World Cup final as the dark horse to get a historic victory against defending champion West Indies.

On the review aggregator blog Rotten Tomatoes, 80% of 15 critics’ reviews are positive, with an average ranking of 7.6 stars out of 10 stars. 83 obtained critical praise. Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama rated the movie 4 stars out of 5 stars, stating that “83 is a champion on pitch and on-screen too”.

He also reported, “Those who saw the win would be happy to relive the experience, while those who didn’t, will get an opportunity to see how things unfolded during one of the greatest episodes of Indian sports past”.

Rachana Dubey of The Times of India even rated 4 stars out of 5 stars, saying “You discover this movie is not about succeeding on a world stage, it’s about gaining respect and director Kabir Khan does set a high standard for himself, once again”. She even commended Ranveer Singh’s work for enacting Kapil Dev and further completed “83 does accomplish on the nationalism rhetoric, way more than was needed.

At the surface, ’83’ is about an underdog team’s win. As you go deeper, with each actor effortlessly presenting himself as an iconic cricketer from the 1983 team, you manage to feel that this picture has been prepared with a well-written narrative, helped by nuanced and internalized performances, and each department lending its technical intelligence to it.”

Anuj Kumar of The Hindu stated that “The film not only grabs the emotional expressive of the success story of the underdogs but even produces a well-researched document in the famous idiom”.

Pooja Biraia Jaiswal of The Week rated the movie 4.5 stars out of 5 stars stating”The movie is a compelling look and you don’t like to skip a single frame as every minute is accounted for”. She added, “The deep feeling of a nation’s win; an underdog’s incredible win and the emotional high of getting the world’s greatest title is something that the movie has handled to bring out”, further applauding Singh’s work and Khan’s direction.

Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express rated the movie 3.5 stars out of 5 stars, saying”Kabir Khan’s ’83 plays the day of 1983 Cricket World Cup Final with commitment, and, yes, let it be said, in full Bollywood style, infused with song, dance, drama, color. It pads the movie with a few (fictional) parts meant indicated to play to the gallery, and it skates dangerously near to pandering to the overbearing nationalistic emotionsplaying out in today’s India.”

Monika Rawal of Hindustan Times reported”Making a movie based on such a historic milestone was quite a risky proposition for director Kabir Khan because you can’t afford to go immoral with facts here. But the minute facts and nuances in the story that he highlights in the movie make you think in his research and commitment to the project.

At many places, 83 gets high on nationalism, which couldn’t be skillfully bypassed. But that’s something one kind of ignores for the pride and happiness you experience on seeing the team raise that trophy. If you require a reason to step into a theatre, 83 is that movie which calls for a big screen experience.”
